Author Guidelines
- The author(s) shall send materials compiled in accordance with the Requirements for the Entries Submitted for Publication.
- The Editorial Board accepts only original previously unpublished scientific materials. Should plagiarism and/or the previous publishing of the manuscript elsewhere be detected, the article is to be removed from publication at any stage of preparation.
- The manuscript is eligible for publication as long as the complete Package of Documents is provided
- Legal issues related to publication in the Journal, including the obligations of the parties (Author and Publisher), are regulated by a License Agreement and Certificate, which, printed and signed with a blue ink ballpoint pen, the author (co-authors) must submit to the Editorial Board of the journal along with the Application for publication of a scientific article.
- The editors notify the author, that the manuscript has been accepted / not accepted for consideration, through the electronic editorial system on the Journal’s website or by e-mail.
- After the registration of the manuscript, the Editorial Board informs the author of the faults in the content or layout of the manuscript, which must be fixed before submitting the text for review. The Author forwards the corrected text to the Editor.
- If the Author’s written appeal contains a question, which has been repeatedly answered in writing in connection with previously filed appeals, and does not offer any new arguments or circumstances, the Editors can find it groundless and terminate correspondence with the author on this issue.
- The decision to publish is based on the results of the review, taking into account the conformity of the presented material to the Journal’s subject area, the relevance of the article’s topic, its scientific contribution and the significance of the research findings. The decision on the publication of the manuscript is made within 6 (six) months from the date of its receipt by the Editorial Office.
- Manuscripts are subject to double-blind review, whereupon the reviewer and the author have no information about each other. (Details are available on the page Policy, Section Reviewing).
- Upon receiving a positive review and editorial approval, the article enters the Journal's portfolio. The publication plan is formed by the Editor-in-Chief from the materials included in the portfolio, in the order of priority based on the date of receipt, the content of the corresponding section of the journal, and the thematic focus of the issue.
- After publication, the edited and proof-read article s kept in the editorial archive for at least a year with an attached copy of the review.
- The Authors of the articles are responsible for the content of the articles, the materials provided, as well as for the very fact of their publication. The Editorial Board does not bear any liability to the authors and/or third parties and organizations for possible damage caused by the publication of the article.
- There is no publication fee in the Journal, and no royalties are paid.
- Articles and other submitted materials will not be returned.
- The illustrative and other materials sent by the author along with the article are used for publication in the required quantity at the discretion of the Editorial Board.
- Articles designed without taking into account the Requirements for Entries Submitted for Publication in the “Vestnik VGIK” Journal are not accepted for publication.
REQUIREMENTS TO THE ENTRIES SUBMITTED FOR PUBLIСATION IN THE “VESTNIK VGIK” SCHOLARLY JOURNAL
The Editorial Board accepts only original, previously unpublished articles, complying with the Ethics of Scientific Publications in the “Vestnik VGIK” Scholarly Journal.
When submitting the article for review, the author shall indicate the academic discipline and the corresponding research area from the List approved for the journal by the Higher Attestation Commission.

The content of the article must conform to the journal’s scientific standard and be of academic interest.
Requirements to the entries submitted for publication in “Vestnik VGIK:”
- Relevance of the posed problem.
- Scientific novelty.
- Theoretical and practical significance.
- A coherent statement of the purpose and justification of the research originality.
- A high degree of reference to source material (literary, cinematic, etc.)
- A high linguistic and stylistic quality of the submitted manuscript.
Article Structure:
- a general statement of the problem and its relation to significant scientific or practical processes;
- highlighting previously unsolved aspects of the examined problem;
- defining the research objectives (goal setting);
- analysis of the referred to latest researches, publications and films on the stated topic;
- core results of the research with the grounding of the obtained findings;
- Conclusions from the aforementioned research and the prospects of further developments in this domain.
- THE NECESSARY PACKAGE OF MATERIAL FOR THE PUBLICATION OF THE MANUSCRIPT:
The authors shall present the following documentation package of electronic filing to the Editorial Board of the “Vestnik VGIK” Scholarly Peer-Reviewed Journal:
1.1. THE MANUSCRIPT OF THE ARTICLE
1.2. A JPG photograph of the author (not exceeding 300 dpi);
1.3. The information about the author/authors (a separate Word file) in Russian (consequentially, paragraphed): the article’s title, UDC, ORCID, AuthorID; DOI; the author’s full name, academic degree, academic rank (if any), place of employment, position, contact details (mobile phone number, actual e-mail, full address with postal index).
The authors confirm that:
- all the main contributors to the research shall be presented as co-authors;
- all the co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and authorized its publication (validated by their personal signatures in the covering letter).
1.4. A FILLED IN ENTRY FORM FOR SUBMITTING THE DOCUMENTS FOR PUBLICATION
1.5. Illustrations, photos, diagrams etc. (in JPG, not exceeding 300 dpi) made without violating the laws and requirements pertaining to the relations between the parties and with regards to the copyright and related rights regulating the activity of third parties and using their intellectual property.
1.6. LICENSE AGREEMENT
After verifying the documentation package, the Editorial Board of the “Vestnik VGIK” Scholarly Peer-Reviewed Journal notifies the author of its acceptance indicating the receipt date and code of the article, which provides the ground for submitting the article for review.
- SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
2.1. MANUSCRIPT FOR PUBLICATION
2.2. The text is typed in one font, 12 pt, with one-and-half line spacing, divided into 2 to 5 sections with the total length from 20,000 to 25,000 characters including spaces for post-graduate students (and/or degree applicants) and students; from 25,000 to 30,000 characters including spaces for candidates and doctors of sciences.
2.3. In-text references are typed in square brackets in the following order: the number of the source in the Reference List, the cited page), e.g. [1], [2, p. 5], [5, p 34; 25, p. 2]. The text is followed by a reference list in alphabetic order as specified in Russian National Standard 7.0.5. — 2008.
2.4. Footnotes are typed in Times New Roman, size 10.
2.5. Abbreviations and symbols. The used abbreviations outside the International Unit System must be specified (in the text or footnotes).
2.6. Tables, figures, illustrations, diagrams, designs, etc. are compiled separately in compliance with the National Standard and technical requirements and submitted in from 4 to 6 separate JPG files (resolution no less than 300 dpi, 1,5 MB and more).
2.7. Captions to the tables, illustrations, designs, diagrams, etc. are submitted in a separate Word file, font size 14. Notation signs in the figures are specified by captions or in the text. Lines, dots and names must be distinct, clear and coherent. E.g., Table 1, Fig. 5, etc.
The use of illustrative material of other authors must comply with the copyright and intellectual property legislation, as determined by the Russian Civil Code, and supplied with the author’s written authorization (in the original). When citing external tables, figures, illustrations, designs and diagrams, reference to the source is mandatory. The authors must make sure that the illustrative material does not violate other authors’ intellectual property and copyright rights.
2.8. EXAMPLES OF FORMATING DIFFERENT TYPES OF PUBLICATIONS
2.9. REFERENCES
The cited sources (10 to 20) are alphabetically listed in Russian followed by foreign sources also in alphabetic order. REFERENCES are arranged similarly. Foreign sources are not transcribed. The transcription of Russian language sources, though, is specified (in Russ.). Besides, the transcription of the author(s)’s initials typed in italics is followed by the year of publication in parentheses, in accordance with the Vancouver format. All the cited sources shall be checked for scientometric identifiers (EDN, DOI, etc.)
The editors recommend monitoring and using publications on the topic of the article published in previous issues of the journal, as well as in other scholarly journals on the subject of the author’s manuscript, in order to ensure continuity and confirm the relevance of the subject matter.
- WHEN SUBMITTING THE ARTICLE TO THE EDITORS FOR REVIEWING, THE AUTHOR(S) MUST AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:
- the manuscript may be returned to the author(s) if it does not comply with the publishing requirements of the scholarly journal “Vestnik VGIK”;
- the manuscript may be returned to the author(s) if it contains unauthorized plagiarism;
- the manuscript may be returned to the author(s) if it violates copyright and related rights;
- the manuscript may be returned to the author(s) if it contains unreliable (or knowingly fraudulent) information;
- the manuscript may be returned to the author(s) for breach of ethical standards.
- THE AUTHORS CONFIRM that at the time of submitting the manuscript all their publications and citations of their publications are linked to their personal profile in the scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.RU and ORCID, and also guarantee that this article, in whole or in part, has not been previously published, and is not under review or in the process of publishing in another periodical.
